We are currently looking for a Construction Safety & Health Specialist I to join our team. Qualified candidates will exhibit strong ethics and morals. This is a full-time position that reports to the Safety & Health Director. Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position consists of approximately 75 % field work and 25% office work.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Conduct and document jobsite inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition, at-risk behaviors, and correction of potential third-party safety violations. This necessitates the ability to communicate thoroughly and assist in the implementation of corrections/behaviors while still maintaining adherence to the project schedule and plan compliance.
  • Work with managers and supervisors in managing hazardous working conditions and eliminating unsafe employee activities. Investigate and recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operations to minimize potential hazards.
  • Review, analyze, and present data collected during jobsite inspections with emphasis on preparation for presentation to Senior Managers and/or Company Ownership.
  • Ensure employee understanding of compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors and employees comply with jobsite safety rules and regulations
  • Conduct JHA’s with employees and sub-contractors.
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations
  • Prepare and maintain records of incidents, injuries, and near misses.
  • Conduct chemical inventories at multiple sites. Assist in maintaining digital SDS.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings.
  • Provide safety presentations, toolbox talks, or participate in safety stand downs.
  • Provide training for a wide variety of topics including OSHA 10hr Classes, new employee safety training, and refresher training.
  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

Education and/or Experience requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
  • 1-3 years of experience in field safety
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations and OSH law
  • Ability to earn certifications (OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CSP)

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces and steep terrain
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended periods
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions in mountainous terrain (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
